Responsibilities:
To impart guidance for project commissioning, right from the stage of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, material selection diagrams (MSD), heat and mass balance for hydro processing and petroleum/refinery plants.
Detail Design of hydro treating reactors and reactor internals.
Process simulation (PRO-II) of grass-root and revamped units.
Preparing basic engineering packages. Design of heat exchangers (HTRI), fired heaters, columns, compressors, 2-phase, 3-phase separator, instruments, etc.
Relief System Design (PSV Sizing and Selection), Flare System Design (Flare load and Pipeline sizing).
Interface with Operating Organizations and Detailed Engineering.
Participate in plant start-ups and guarantee test runs.

Achievements:
As lead process engineer, successfully executed basic engineering for the revamp of hydro-treating plants to produce Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel. Avoided costly revamp of existing compressors by implementing innovative schemes that kept the revamp cost at a minimum.
Delineated guidelines for preparing flare load summary for hydro-treating plant.

Hydrogen Generation Unit: Stream reforming of Naphtha

Propane De-asphalting Plant: Recovery of lube oil from VDU bottoms
Sulphur Recovery Unit: Removal of sulphur from acid gas

Carried out plant test runs and simulated the same using PRO-II.
Carried out performance tests of PSA absorbent, reformer catalyst and other catalysts used in hydrogen and hydro-treating plants.
Generation of periodic Management Information System reports - fortnightly and monthly plant summary report, chemical consumption report.
Generation of Non-Planned Capital Budget (NPCB) proposals delineating plant constraints and modifications needed to overcome the same.
Achieve daily production target while meeting quality specifications and yield.
Safe handling of emergencies like fire, utilities (cooling water, electricity, air, steam) and equipment (mechanical and instrument) failure.
