There are specific duties as per assigned by the company standard prospectus for the rig mechanic which may be stated as follow:
1- Start all mobile equipments daily (engine, compressors, dryer, pumps…etc) and check it for satisfactory working, report and attend to faults, carry out periodic check on all mobile and static equipment and report consequently on standards forms.
2-Carry out routing preventive maintenance (PM schedule) on static and mobile equipments (engines, purifier, water maker, compressor, all pumps types” centrifugal, axial ,and positive displacement pumps” , mud pump, and all drilling equipments" top drive , drawwork ,traveling block, power tong , easy torque, air hoist, BOP crane, …etc) as assigned per weekly or monthly schedules and according to company procedures,.
3- Carry out necessary repair works and ensure that equipment is returned to service as fast as possible.
4- Carry out major overhaul of mechanical equipment and carry out testing and calibration of equipment.
5- Perform any other mechanical related duties as assigned and when required, Moreover stay standby on call 24 hours a day for any emergency calls.

1- Training period in Elnaser Petroleum Company for two weeks (August1999).
2- Training period in BMW Company (August 2000)
3- Air conditioning technical training course TRANE company at (February 2001).
4- Stop safety program (EDC training center)
5- Safety management, fire fighting, H2S and first aid.( EDC training center)
6- Mud pump and accumulator unit.(EDC training center).
7- Basic hydraulic course (EDC training center).
8- Lifting and working at height. (EDC training center)
9- cardio , pulmonary resuscitation course (CPR COURSE) ( EDC training center).
