Career Objective
I am making initial enquiries about options for working in the Gulf as process engineer and would be keen to hear whether or not anyone would be interested in someone with my background, and what sort of work and living arrangements could be offered.
Professional Experience
Graduated from UMIST (Manchester) in 1996; the degree course included a 12-month industrial placement as student engineer at a bromine extraction plant. Additional experience was gained in working at a fine chemicals plant during the summer vacations.
Following graduation, joined Granherne as a graduate engineer at their Woking headquarters office. The first two years were spent here assisting with process support for a variety of multidiscipline conceptual engineering projects and feasibility studies. Then relocated to the Aberdeen office and shortly after was seconded to Mobil’s SAGE (St. Fergus) gas terminal as site process engineer for 2 years. During this time, gained invaluable site and operating experience whilst providing process support for technical queries and plant modifications.
Then joined IGL Engineering at Aberdeen in 2000, and over a two-year duration was engaged in a number of offshore engineering and operations support activities, and was seconded to one of Kerr McGee’s asset groups to provide engineering/ operations support. Gained corporate membership of the IChemE in 2000, and in July 2002 completed a two-year part-time Higher National Certificate (HNC) course in Process Control.
In 2002, took up a contract position with Shell Expro to provide daily process optimisation for the Gannet asset team, with the aim of maximising oil and gas production.
Rejoined Granherne again in 2003 at their Perth office. The first year or so was spent with the Kellogg Joint Venture, assisting with the design for Woodside’s LNG Phase V Development. Latest role is part of Woodside’s integrated design team for the Angel Gas Project (North West Shelf’s third, and unmanned, offshore platform)- from Basis of Design, through FEED, and currently at detailed design stage.
