My Final year project was a design of software to simulate and optimized Petrodar’s* new export 1200Km crude pipeline Operation, and we gave it the name OPERATOR.
The software that I have personally developed can be used to simulate and optimize the steady state operation of export crude pipeline with 9 variable speed pump stations (diesel engine Primeval) and several heater stations, considering heat transfer with the surrounding medium.
Pressure distribution as will as Temperature distribution along the pipeline is calculated using fluid mechanics and heat transfer equations, such as Colebrook-White, Moody, equation. The software consists of about 6000 VB command line beside more thane 17000 Excel’s cell. Despite the complexity of the program it is very user friendly. Very good result obtained from it, and it has been used as a reference by Petrodar’s engineers.
The project, eventually, won the Department’s final year project prize.
