Planning, design and construction of long distance Class 600 transmission pipeline system including measurement system, filtration etc. involved since year 2000.
The project named as “Gas Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Expansion Project (GIREP) was initiated in year 2000 and aimed to achieve the following by June 2004:
1) To integrate the new gas finds equal to 750 MMCFD with SSGC system through additions of 100 kms of transmission system in size ranging from 16 – 18”, 20” & 24”.
2) To optimize system capacity through simulation studies to transmit and distribute 1200MMCFD of Gas (increase from 500-1250 MMCFD).
3) Relocation of compressor stations.
4) Rehabilitation of 555 kms of 50 year old 16” transmission line
(replacement of 12” by 16” ball valve and installation of pig
launcher & receiver).
5) Total cost of project US$ 55 million.
6) Project successfully completed in June 2004 on schedule and without cost overrun.
