Professional Experience
Employment History
2005-Present Instrument Maintenance Technician, Wood Group
I am currently working at Shell’s Brent Bravo platform in the North Sea, as an instrument maintenance technician, my daily tasks include fault finding, installation and maintenance of all instrument equipment on site, this includes flow, level, temperature and pressure calibrations, integration with the sites PLC and DCS systems. Other instruments include rotating equipment instrumentation such as speed, vibration and temperature sensor loops. In addition to this I also work as part of a team maintaining all Fire and Gas systems on the platform which involves daily calibrations and planned maintenance.
2004-2005 Instrument/Electrical Technician, Petrofac
Employed as an Instrument/Electrical Maintenance Technician on the Balmoral FPV, I worked as part of a small team carrying out routine calibrations, daily maintenance on the fire and gas systems, hazardous area Ex maintenance, PPM checks and fiscal metering tests. Also maintained the platform’s SCADA and PLC systems as required.
2000-2004 Trainee Instrument Technician, Exxonmobil Chemical
Whilst working at Mossmorran I was trained as an Instrumentation Technician, working with and learning from a large team who are responsible for plant maintenance. I have achieved my SVQ 3 in engineering maintenance, which has ranged from basic training to interrogating complex instrument and analyser systems. My training has covered many aspects of the job including faultfinding and calibration of these instrument and analyser systems. During my final year here I gained valuable experience working as part of a team in the full refurbishment of a fire damaged gas turbine which included installation and commissioning of all instrument equipment on the turbine and also any shutdown work around the site, this helped me to build my confidence and as a result I gained the apprentice of the year award in 2004.
