Civil/Structural Engineer

I am a goal oriented, computer literate individual with excellent communication skills and good interpersonal relations, seeking an environment where I can fully explore my potential. I thrive on challenges, working well under pressure.

I have a lot of experience in structural analysis and design of both commercial and residential buildings in various combinations. My experience centers a great deal in reinforced concrete utilizing different floor types - solid slab, clay pot and waffle slabs and filligran slabs. I also have experience in the design and drafting of warehouses using steel. I have supervised and been part of the team handling large, complex industrial jobs for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria (GSM switches). I have also tackled a wide variety of construction problems where decisions had to be made on site. I have designed different structures for the external works of various sites - septic tanks; soak away pits, overhead steel tanks, rigid pavements, and underground concrete water tanks and swimming pools. As an Associate Partner in my firm of consulting engineers in Nigeria, junior engineers report to me and I have taught them the underlying principles and rudiments of structural engineering.

I am a registered engineer in my country, Nigeria (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria - COREN). This is synonymous with a PE in the United States. I am also a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE).

I have a great deal of experience in the production of structural drawings using AutoCAD 2006. My experience ranges from the structural detailing of concrete floors, foundations, columns, timber roofs, steel trusses, steel diesel tanks, steel connections, steel staircases, underground concrete water tanks and other retaining structures, retaining walls etc. I finish at least one sheet of design everyday. I'm also very conversant with CAD standards, preparing drawings in paper space and to scale, creation of pen assignments, printing drawings to scale etc.

I have experience in the analyses and design of concrete structures using different load combinations. I'm comfortable with hand calculations using moment distribution analysis, and computer aided design using StaadPro 2004 and Prokon. I'm very conversant with the following building codes BS 8110 (Concrete), BS 5950 (Steel), BS 6399 (Loadings). I have a lot of experience in the preparation of Calculation sheets and bar bending schedules for steel reinforcement using BS 4466
