Duties: I am a management graduate trainee currently working with the instruments and control department and am on my final year of a three-year development programme.
The Royal Swaziland Sugar Instruments Engineer training programme covers the following aspects:
1.Maintenance, calibration, installation and commissioning of the following instruments:
o Process control valves and on/off valves
o Analysers and recorders
o Conductivity and ph systems
o Transmitters – DP transmitters for level, flow and pressure; temperature transmitters.
o Weighing systems – L336 controlled scales.
2.Off-crop preventative maintenance planning.
3.Routine maintenance on field instrumentation in the boilers, powerhouse and process sections.
5.Preventative maintenance procedures of key items of plant/short stops/planned stops/breakdowns sampling/analysis/factory shift and weekly records administration and fault reporting procedures.
6.Fine tuning control loops.
7. Faultfinding and troubleshooting from the PLC and DCS control systems.
8.Have thorough knowledge of the design, layout, capacities, operation and specifications of all automated machinery in the plant.
9.Carry out and manage plant modifications to prevent breakdowns and for process optimisation purposes.
