Career Objective
To work in an integrated team of geocientists and engineers on exploration and/or development projects. Work scope would entail the integration of all available data to come up with well constrained project outcomes.
Professional Experience
July 1992 November 1997:
Employed by the PNG Department of Mining and Petroleum (Now Department of Petroleum and Energy). Worked as Petroleum Geologist.
Technically, I was engaged in numerous reviews of geological and geophysical reports in collaborations with oil exploration companies. Also, conducted independent technical studies on some of PNG's sedimentary basins, forming the basis for the promotion of PNG's petroleum industry.
November 1997 – June 2006
Schlumberger Oilfield Australia - worked as Processing/Interpretation Geoscientist, initially PNG based in the then Schlumberger Computing Center in Port Moresby. With subsequent changes in business activities in 1998, I was transferred to the Schlumberger office in Perth, Western Australia, remaining there until 2006.
Main roles included the following:
1) Processing and interpretation of borehole geological logs using Schlumberger's specialized application software (Geoframe) for our clients. My expertise with wireline logs concerns mainly with microresistivity (OBMI, FMS, FMI) and acoustic borehole images (UBI), which are integral to reservoir characterization.
2) Log quality control on logs, which include environmental corrections, log editing, splicing and merging of different types of geophysical log measurements, including both wireline and logging while drilling.
3) Software support and training of clients on the use of certain specialized application software including Petrel and GeoFrame.
4) Marketing of Schlumberger services and products to the Papua New Guinea Oil and Gas industry, covering both government and the private sector.
July 2006 – Now
Transferred to Schlumberger Oilfield Support in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Main roles include:
1) Integrated multi-well projects combining dip meter and image logs (OBMI, FMI, UBI), other wireline logs, core images, petrographic and biostratigraphic data for better definition of structure, reservoir sand body architecture, lithofacies and depositional environments.
2) Developing new business opportunities with clients in Malaysia, Brunei and Philippines.
3) Provide technical training to Junior Geoscientists.
