Responsible for inducting new crew on the platform to make sure that they were aware of all of the procedures in place, to avoid spillages and containment, and discuss possible impacts on the environment, that an oil spill would have and how to use absorbent materials onboard.
Arrange nightly meeting with heads of staff and bring up any environmental problems on board the platform. Liaise with the Talisman representative and send daily and weekly reports.
Part of a swift response team, in the event of an emergency would be expected to mobilize the oil spill equipment onboard the rig and attempt to hold the oil until the oil spill response vessel arrived.
Responsible for ensuring that procedures were being followed correctly, to do risk assessments and to try by all means to identify and stop any hazards to the environment before they happened.
Rigs worked on Beatrice Bravo and Julie Robertson rigs in the North sea and the Santa Fe monitor in the English channel.
Ensure compliance with ISOW 14001 safety at work and environmental regulations.
Liased with chief safety officer to disscuss and implement safer and cleaner systems of work.
Expected in some cases to help a facility achieve their ISOW 14001 award.
