d. JOB DESCRIPTION

During 9.5 years in IOCL, worked in various departments – namely Project / Operations / Technical Services.


Project Department:

· Commissioned Sulphur recovery units (2 chains of 225 MT per day each)/ 2 nos Sour water stripper units (170 m3/Hr)/Amine regeneration units (410 m3/Hr)/ Tail Gas Unit – Activities include
o Check listing of all process & utility lines with P&Id and liquidation
o Flushing of all process and utility lines
o Trial run of pumps and subsequent rectification, if any abnormalities noticed
o Boxing up of vessels, columns and reactors
o Catalyst loading into the reactors
o Interlocks checking and improvement in DCS graphics
o Commissioning of thermal incinerator
· Smooth and safe start up’s of all the above units
· Operating manual and pocket manual preparation
· HAZOP study of IOCL Panipat expansion project Sulphur block units along with EIL
· Trained unit engineers on DCS operations
· Trained operators / technicians on plant operations and equipment


Operations Department:

· Day to day operations as shift in-charge of Sulphur Recovery, Sour water, Amine regeneration, Tail gas treating Units. The responsibilities include
o Optimising the operation for the desired product quality by leading a group of operators and technicians
o Proper maintenance of Pumps and Blowers and equipment.
o Daily operation reports and highlighting the problems for rectification
o Safe handing over of the equipment for maintenance
o Conducting zonal meetings with maint. departments
o Following the Work permit system for safety
o Trouble shooting
o Smooth and safe start up of the units
o Mentoring the newly joined officers and operators for safe and reliable operation.

Technical services Department:

· Day to day process monitoring of Sulphur Recovery, Sour water, Amine regeneration, Bitumen Blowing, Tail gas treating and Diesel Hydrotreater Units.
· Preparation of monthly and annual operation reports
· Preparation of process schemes for the betterment of the operations
· Conducting test runs and finalisation of the reports
· Preparation of shut down and startup schedules and their monitoring
· Also worked for planning and economics cell, worked on RPMS package for carrying out the refinery economics
