Worked on a project entitled “Late Pleistocene Foraminifera in the Arabian Sea: Paleoceanographic implications” under Dr. Ajay Kumar Rai, University of Allahabad, Allahabad. The main responsibilities were to do biostratigraphy, biochronology & study paleoenvironment by analyzing Ocean Drilling Programme (ODP) samples.

I was initiated to research in biostratigraphy and paleoceanography with the help of planktic foraminifera during my M.Sc. programme. After that I worked on a project entitled “Late Pleistocene Foraminifera in the Arabian Sea: Paleoceanographic implications”. The main responsibilities were to do biostratigraphy, biochronology & study paleoenvironment by analyzing Ocean Drilling Programme (ODP) samples. I participated in geophysical survey and geological coring of the western offshore region of India, performed geologging & core sampling. I am presently working on Late Quaternary sedimentary system in the Ganga delta for my M.Tech. thesis. I have extensively utilized remote sensing data in a GIS environment for geomorphic mapping of the region and have already carried out a short field investigation. I am currently planning a detailed field trip for lithological logging of exposed section and drilling as a part of M.Tech thesis.

Presently I am a final year M.Tech student in Engineering Geosciences discipline of IIT Kanpur and I expect to finish in mid-2007 (Ranked 2nd in Geosciences group). Before that I did M.Sc. in Applied Geology from University of Allahabad, Allahabad with 68.25 % (1st class), in year 2002. (Ranked 1st in the Department). Meanwhile I completed Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Exploration through distance education from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, INDIA. I also have a degree of B.Sc. I participated geophysical investigations (gravity, magnetic, conventional bathymetry, multi-beam bathymetry surveys etc.) and geological coring of the western offshore region of India (Cruise No. SK-221).

Here I am proving the selected list of field work that I carried in my career.

1st year M.Sc. (2000): Carried out a comprehensive geological fieldwork at Chitrakoot (U.P.).

1st year M.Sc. (2001): Completed a detailed fieldwork on economic geology, Sedimentary structure & structural geology mapping in parts of Jharkhand (Koderma, Noamondi, Galudih & Ghatshila) and West Bengal (Asansol).

2nd year M.Sc. (2002): Undertook a fieldwork on structural geology mapping at Saltora & Chaibasa in Bankura district (West Bengal).

3rd sem M.Tech. (2006): Did detailed field work on bank erosion problems of Malda region (West Bengal).

3rd sem M.Tech. (2006): completed comprehensive sedimentological & geomorphologic fieldwork at lower parts of Ganga Delta.

4th sem M.Tech. (2006-07): Carried out sedimentological & geomorphologic fieldwork at selected windows of Ganga Delta with Prof. Steven Goodbred (Stony Brook University, USA) & his team, with Prof. Rajiv Sinha (IIT Kanpur) & Prof. Anindya Sarkar (IIT Kharagpur).
