Health, Safety and Environment position with a company/project in need of a safety focused engineering individual with 15 years' experience in petrochemical construction (pipeline integrity, mechanical jointing) and gas plant operations.
Professional Experience
Experienced and qualified Senior Shift Engineer (modern gas terminal operations) who seeks Health, Safety and Environment position within overseas contract or project. Responsible during 5 year period for the safe and efficient operation and 1st line maintenance of the Interconnector Bacton Gas Terminal, encompassing the operation of modern gas compression, pressure letdown, cooling and heating systems, inclusive of Control Room Operations.
Safety representative during Bacton terminal enhancement construction project, with additional duties inclusive of internal Environmental Audits (iaw ISO 14001), Site Safety Induction Training and SUSAs (Safe-UnSafe Acts), plus the promotion of Health & Safety amongst staff and contractors. Currently based in Commercial Gas Operations within the same company (Interconnector UK Ltd - UK Gas Import/Export) as Lead Commercial Operator for the UK-Continent Gas Interconnector, including Out-of-Hours support to third party LNG and Gas Trading businesses. Proficient in Petrochemical Construction and Maintenance, and Quality Assurance disciplines.
Previous 5 years experience in the provision of on-site engineering services to the Petrochemical and Offshore Industries. Familiar with Permit to Work Systems thereof. Conversant with, and qualified in, BS EN ISO 9000 Series Quality Systems. Familiar with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. NEBOSH qualified. Earlier diverse military career encompassing aero-engine Fleet Management, and the planning/management of aircraft systems maintenance.

Additional Information
Responsible for the 24-hour commercial operation of the UK-Continent Gas Interconnector pipeline, and ensuring that the company’s commercial obligations are met on a day-to-day basis.
Out of Hours support to third party LNG and Gas Trading parties for daily balancing of supplies to National Grid. Planning and forecasting for pipeline flow direction (forward or reverse) catering for nominations in excess of 1800000 GJ per day.
Control and safe operation of Interconnector Bacton Gas terminal process plant.
Site and Control Room operation of LM2500+ gas generators and two stage power turbines driving Thermodyn RD5-6 centrifugal compressors (gas exports), and modern pressure letdown and heating trains (gas imports).
Management of the site Permit to Work System. Liaison with National Grid
Permit Authority on interface permits. 1st line maintenance, system isolations and assistance in major maintenance activities.
Safety representative during plant enhancement construction project. Conducting site induction-training courses and carrying out internal Environmental Audits (ISO 14001) and SUSAs. Promotion of Health & Safety amongst staff and contractors.
Forward Incident Controller on site during plant emergency situations. Planning and coordination of site shutdowns. Deputising for Terminal manager in his absence as/when required. Assistance in preparation (and supervision of implementation) of policies and procedures.
