Professional Experience
Sixteen years of experience in the commercial side of the Canadian, North African, and Southeast Asian energy industries. Most recently, 5 years of experience in international petroleum exploration & production in Indonesia and Sudan. Prior to that, 11 years of experience in the Canadian energy industry. Building on a foundation of post-graduate education in engineering (studied in the United States), successfully progressed through various business roles - relied on extensive studying of business subjects. Currently, working in the Jakarta, Indonesia office of Talisman Energy Inc. (large, Canadian based, international oil and gas producer.) Responsible for the economic and commercial evaluation of new exploration ventures, producing-asset acquisitions, field development plans, and for other commercial concerns of ongoing production operations. Also responsible for long-term gas marketing, and for contract negotiation / interpretation. Canadian citizen since 1994. Grew up in Beirut, Lebanon until moving to the United States for university education. Immigrated to Canada following graduation and lived there until joining Talisman Energy’s operations in Sudan in 2002. Moved with Talisman to Indonesia in 2003. Native fluency in Arabic is an added asset for a posting in the Middle East. Would add the most value in a versatile role that combines broad-picture skills with skills for rigorous analysis and negotiation. Well used to multi-cultural, multi-lingual, third-world environments requiring cultural sensitivity and tolerance of uncertain or unstable environments. Seeking a commercial position with a large or mid-sized oil & gas producer, in the middle east or north Africa. Responsibilities to include business development, contract negotiation, economic analysis and comprehensive commercial evaluation of new ventures (exploration prospects and/or acquisitions), marketing of oil & gas, the ongoing commercial concerns of producing assets.
