Advantica are a major UK based Oil and Gas engineering consultancy, with it's roots in British Gas, Advantica operates in both the up-stream and downstream market. Advantica cover areas such as Pipeline Integrity Management, Hazard and Safety management, Process Engineering, Software, Pipeline services and Asset management.
I was promoted to this position and I am responsible for establishing the Middle East regional sales office for Advantica in Abu Dhabi, servicing the GCC region. This includes responsibility for business development, sales, agents, recruitment and the office infrastructure.
The office has grown from 1 project, employing 1 engineer to numerous projects employing 17 full time engineers in Abu Dhabi, 2 in Saudi Arabia and visiting project related teams.
I was responsible for developing and implementing the regional business and sales plan across Upstream, Transmission and Distribution. Major clients include the ADNOC group companies, Dolphin Energy, QP, Saudi Aramco and PDO.
Advantica Ltd, BDM Aberdeen
June 2003 to July 2005
I was responsible to the VP of Sales to identify, understand and manage the closure of sales in the UK and Scandinavia Oil and Gas business. In this role I was responsible for achieving sales revenue targets, growth and profitability across the various Advantica delivery teams in the Aberdeen market, also for the account management of existing clients and developing new business. The formulation of business development strategy, implementation and delivery of the strategy against agreed targets. Developing and implementing marketing plan including advertising and exhibitions.
Exceeded target in my first full year and more than doubled revenue over the previous year.
New initiatives have included the forming of an IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) offering and bringing it to market, also the forming of a JIP (Joint Industry Project) proposal for the development of the grouted tee hot tap for sub-sea use. This has cumulated in BP, Conoco Phillips and Total committing to the funding of the project which upon completion will give Advantica a major new product offering.
