About the graduation project:
Complete design for crossing countries transmission pipeline between Libya& Egypt (620 km long) to transmit 203,000 barrel/day of a waxy heavy crude oil. Hydraulic analysis was one of the project phases where we created a visual basic program to calculate the total head losses, number of pumping stations & the total pipe weight for every suggested diameter. Also we did a complete economical study based on real prices to choose the optimum diameter to determine the actual cost of the project. Another phase we developed a program to help us in surge analysis to find the best scenarios for opening & shutting down the line and to check the pipeline safety during the unsteady operation. One of the important project tasks is to drive the governing equations which are used in plotting the heating distribution curve along the pipeline profile and calculating the required heaters capacity. We created a simulation program to monitor & control the line just like SCADA. In additional we used GIS program to determine the best route for the pipeline and which is considered the most advanced program in this field.
