Maintenanace Electrical Engineer

Looking forward to apply my experience as an electrical engineer in other remote site, and to improve and enhance my carrer.

•From July 1990 to Present: Sirte Oil Company (former ESSO Libya), Brega, Libya.Worked as an electrical maintenance engineer involved in the power operations and maintenance of the Company electrical power systems.

Major Involvement:
Protective Relays
Extensive knowledge and practical experience on testing and calibrating and modification the electromechanical, static and solid-state protective relays (North American and European made).
Maintenance, Testing & Troubleshooting of Electrical Equipment
•Transformer testing and maintenance of various sizes and different voltage levels and aware of the international standard for transformer routine, type and special tests either required by the standard or by customers.

•Testing, maintaining and trouble shooting circuit breakers from 380 and 480 V to 138 kV and differential interrupting medium air, vacuum SF6,and and manufacturers like ABB, S&C, AEG.

•Installing, testing and commissioning of 138 kV line equipment, such as current and voltage transformers, reactors and lightning arrestors, overhead line insulators.

•Broad experience on trouble shooting and analyzing electrical equipment failures, i.e., cable, breaker and transformer faults, as well as modifying control wiring to correct the mistakes on control panels and switchgear schematic diagrams specially those associated with LNG plants and power plants, and aware of the consequences of mistakes to plant shutdown. As well as experience in standby diesel generators transfer system wiring, modifications and trouble shooting.

•Have very good knowledge on power system short circuit calculation, and protection coordination and their consequences on setting of the protection system and the selection of the electrical equipment and the adequacy of the available equipment in certain places.

•Reasonable background on the international software related to the electrical field like MATLAB, ATP and other software designed especially for power system as the American software CYME like Cymdist (for distribution) and Cymtcc (for coordination study

•MSc from UK and BSc of electrical engineering from Benghazi/Libya.

•MSc in Electrical Industry Management and Technology from the university of Strathclyde in Glasgow/UK 2004/2005.
•BSc of electrical engineering from university of Garyounis, faculty of engineering Benghazi/Libya, 1988/1989.

Other Duties and Capabilities
•Supervising and guiding the engineers & technicians to carry out work during plant shutdown and troubleshooting.
•Preparing scope of work of different electrical projects.
•Preparing materials requisition for electrical project work and spare parts for electrical equipment.
•Following up the availability of the spares on the warehouses.
•Good knowledge and background of the ANSI/IEC international standard and the NEC code.
•Have very good knowledge on using computers and good ability for troubleshooting the problems associated with it.
•Have the motivation to work continuously to downtime and restore power on urgent basis.
• Very good English command in technical report writing specially those reports concerning power failure and good communication skill.
•Witnessing the acceptance tests of many transformers at the manufacturers factory in Europe.
•Commissioning ABB distance relays, current and voltage transformers for 138 kV line.

•Witnessing acceptance test of a 480 V switchgear with transformers and rectifiers in Germany.

•Witnessing tests of UPS and explosion proof electrical material in France and Germany.
