Career Objective
Due to decreasing fishing stocks I am looking forward to gain the necessary experience to qualify myself and to move from the fishing fleet to tugs, dredgers, survey vessels and supply vessels.Very interrested in DP.
Professional Experience
1992-1993 SA Navy serving on the P1551 in Saldanha Bay.45 meter search and rescue vessel.1993-1996 Sailed on Pokkie M as deckhand, a 22m-fiberglass vessel-catching pilchard, red eye, maasbanker and anchovy.1996-2001 I was working as captain on my own fibreglass vessel Young Guns 9m witch I bought in 1996 to catch mostly line fish such as snoek, yellowtail, tuna and cob.1996 -2001 I was also captain on the Christa a 13m-fiberglass vessel to catch crayfish for 3 months each year. During this time I was also helping out as deck hand on Oceana Viking 35-m steel vessel from time to time catching pilchard in Stompneus Bay2001–2003 I caught hake for Marco Fishing for Spanish markets for 8 months of any given year and then changing to surface long line to catch swordfish and tuna on the high seas.I started as chief mate to gain experience on their vessels and was promoted to relieve captain within the first 6 months. The vessels I served on during this time as chief mate and captain was.2003-2005 I currently work for Brama Brama Fishing in Walvis Bay. I sailed as captain on Blomeha 29m steel vessel catching bottom long line hake for Spanish markets.2005-2007. I was moved to a vessel with bigger capacity for bottom long line hake the Hraunsvik 31m steel vessel where I am still sailing as captain.
