Additional Information
When I was Serving my apprenticeship at Swan Hunters I was entered into a
competition called ‘Skill Weld 2000’ where I came 3rd in the region and 4th in the
National Finals. This competition involved different types of welding processes and
positional welds and there were 20,000 companies invited to enter.
During my time at Subsea 7's Spool Base working for Petrology I was trained to use
the Vermat Automated GSFAW and the Vermat Automated GTAW (BUG Welding)
The Automated GTAW (Blind Faith) was a critical Procedure, and testing consisted
of 3 consistency 5G 12" carbon pipe which all had to pass the criteria in X-ray only
then were you allowed to complete the final test. If one of the consistency butts or the
final butt failed the X-ray, the whole process had to be carried out from the start. I
passed the test first time along with 2 other out of a total of 120 people tested, 16 men
eventually qualified for the contract.
I can work successfully as part of a team of any size as I have always established an
effective working relationship with my colleagues and supervisors. As shown in my
employment history I can adapt to any environment and task.
