Additional Information
As Shut down coordinator during many major annual scheduled shut downs over the years at the refineries I worked was the most exciting time I experienced. To be in charge of a Crude Oil Plant with so many operators, contractors and various other personnel involved was a situation that brought the best out of me. I also wrote the shut down procedures for control room operators to shut down the plants safely. Every shut down took us 6 weeks to complete including catalyst reloading or catalyst regeneration on the reactors.
I also successfully extended the life time of the our catalyst (needless to mention very expensive) in our reactors system during normal operation by using a small feed bypass line (a line never used for a number of years despite installed during construction) entering the reactor system between the 2nd and 3rd reactor resulting in the 3rd and 4th reactors working a bit harder than the 1st and 2nd distributing the process evenly over the 4 reactors in series without compromising the product specifications, an achievement I’m very proud of.
