Projects Undertaken
•Pressure drop measurement and theoretical study of gas-liquid slug flow in vertical small diameter tubes, IIT Madras (August 2006 – April 2007) -Measurement of two phase flow pressure drop in 3.6mm diameter (small diameter) tube using air-water mixture. Prepare a model which finds out pressure drop and void fraction in two phase slug flow in small tube diameter. Comparison with the theoretical model and the experimental data. A systematic theoretical study of the gas- liquid two-phase flow patterns. Experimental and Theoretical study of the effect of tube diameter on pressure drop.
•Reduced ammonia loss through stack in DAP plants- Tata Chemicals Haldia (May 2006-July 2006)-Studied the scrubber process in DAP plant and collected and analyzed data for the ammonia loss through the stack and identified reasons causing inefficiency in the plant and also optimized scrubber’s process in the plant as a result of which Tata Chemicals is saving a lot of money.
•Rotary cement Klins Simulator (Rocks), National Chemical Laboratory, Pune (May 2005-July 2005)--Developed a mathematical model to simulate the heat transfer in cyclone pre-heaters and grate coolers used in cement industry. Several numerical simulations were carried out to understand the influence of operational parameters like solids inlet temperature and particle size and air flow rate on the performance of the cooler and pre-heaters.
•Renewable energy sources-Study of Nuclear and Geothermal Energy source, IIT Madras (August 2005-November 2005) -Detailed analysis of potential, technology, environmental impacts future prospects of the nuclear and geothermal energy sources were done. Three seminars were given to promote. The study can be used to promote nuclear energy sources since they are cost effective, clean and cost effective source of energy
