Most complex safety challenge faced until present

Expansion of a Dissolved Acetylene Plant from 140 M3/Hr to 210 M3/Hr. The original 140 M3/Hr plant had to be kept in full operation during implentation of this special project.

Total cost: US$ 7 million plus.

Team size

6 major local and overseas contractors and consultants, numerous vendors/suppliers and a technical workforce of more than 100.

Key Responsibilities

Set-up an Industrial Gas Production Site consisting of a new 30 ton/day (TPD) Air Separation Plant (ASU), a 3.6 MW Power Station, an old 20 TPD ASU (acquired from another company), an Industrial Gas Filling Station and a Cylinder Testing Facility. Recommend to the Company to accept the ASU plant, after witnessing an acceptance test in USA. Resolve all teething problems and warranty issues. Developed an operational team to run and manage the site independently before moving to the next role in less than 2 years.

Key Achievements

Independently handled A to Z management of this project. Completed it on time, less than budget, meeting all safety and quality standards. Promoted to Plant Manager of the site after receiving a rating of ‘outstanding performance’ for completing the project. Gained plant and site management experience of the very same project, completed earlier. Transferred to next role within pre-determined succession plan.

Came across latest engineering and operational know-how in various processes viz. Acetylene, N2O, CO2, Industrial, Medical & Hospitality Gas bottling, Cylinder Inspection & Testing, Engineering & Operational Safety, Product Distribution, Customer Engineering, Integrated Management Systems and Standards (IMSS). Also completed detail studies of 2 (two) engineering projects up to business case in the fields of ‘Cryogenic Product Loss Control’ & ‘Dissolve Acetylene Plant Safety’.

Recieved various training and executed professsional assignments in UK, USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh [1990-until present]

My foundation has been constructed with a first class degree in Mechanical Engineering and an outstanding MBA (Finance) results, both from top class universities in Bangladesh.

As I have had been brought up in the world’s no. 1 Industrial/Medical Gas Company for long 15 years, I have had to survive by demonstrating multi-skilled engineering professionalism, maintaining world-class safety, health and environment practices, controlling product quality precisely and treating customers with a focus, never to be missed. My soft skills have been grown on the principles of ACTS (accountability, collaboration, transparency and stretch). I am told, I have dominating personal characteristics to comprehend, dissect and resolve complex managerial problems at my levels. Besides, I truly enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment which I encounter always in my current employment.
