March 2007 – Present INTERTEK
Offshore Chemist – BLEOHOLM FPSO
Working on the Bleoholm FPSO on a permanent 2 weeks on 3 weeks off rota. Duties undertaken include crude oil B,S & W’s, water content by KF, crude oil and cooling/heating medium density’s, produced water OIW analyses, water injection analyses including particle analyses, chloride analyses, potable water analyses, crude oil salt content, H2S sampling and analyses and Calcium Napthanate emulsion pad testing. Also involved with lab consumable ordering and the changing out of production chemical drums.
Feb 2006 – March 2007 INTERTEK CALEB-BRETT
Ad-hoc Offshore Chemist
Working in the ad-hoc offshore team. Duties undertaken offshore include scale squeezes, oil in water monitoring, chemical trials, analysis of all process fluids and gas, oil and water sampling. Also been on various platforms covering for the platform chemists/lab techs doing the daily offshore lab duties and analysis. Platforms worked on are Miller, Foinaven, Ravenspurn North, Alba, Clyde, Elgin PUQ, Forties Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta, Thistle and also the Talisman oil terminal at Nigg.
Feb 2004 – Feb 2006 CLARIANT OIL SERVICES
Laboratory Technician
Working in the Integrity team. Main duties are developing new and existing products to mitigate corrosion in the oilfield. Test work carried out includes bubble tests, RCE tests, weld corrosion tests, corrosion inhibitor residuals, formulating chemicals, coupon and elastomer tests, emulsion tests and various other test work linked to corrosion, foaming, H2S and biocide. Also experienced some North Sea offshore work and one trip to Qatar. Offshore jobs involved numerous scale squeezes, H2S, oily water and biocide monitoring. Full UK and Europe offshore survival training certificates achieved. Platforms I’ve worked on are Dunbar, North Alwyn and Forties Echo.
Oct 2002 – Oct 2003 COMMERCIAL MICROBIOLOGY
Laboratory Technician
Based in the media lab producing bacterial growth media for use in the oil industry.Other parts of the job include sampling on offshore standby and supply vessels.Samples taken are potable water for bacteria, hydrocarbon and chemical analysis.Fuel oil samples are also taken for water content and bacterial analyses.
