Lecturer: Aerospace Engineering and Management (19 months)
I led courses in Engineering and Management on Btec National and Higher National Diplomas and UAE Degree programmes. I designed course structure, content, teaching methods and assessments in order to effectively evaluate students’ knowledge, skills and behaviours. I delivered courses in a range of styles and methods. I managed a team of part-time lecturers; I evaluated their teaching performance and ensured their assessments complied with UK curriculum. I taught Engineering Science, Occupational Psychology and Leisure Management. I also conducted research on human factors issues with pilots. I worked with Aviation Medicine to create a predictive mathematical model of pilot fatigue to use in flight scheduling.
Training Officer: Crew Training (2 years) I wrote training material and developed ad-hoc training courses for specialists groups. As part of my role a created and launched the Fitness and Nutrition Unit. This involved coaching the crew on healthy lifestyles and providing educational material (50 page booklet). I worked with senior management across a number of departments to write departmental procedures.

I studied the mobility of the elderly and patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s. The purpose of the research was to quantify stability and to increase our understanding of the neuromuscular function in order to (i) reduce falls in the elderly (ii) increase the functionality of patients with neuromuscular diseases.

Sport: England and GB Volleyball Player U21, 1993 to 2000
After playing for my school and region, I secured a place on the England team and underwent a programme of continual assessment for improvement in fitness, commitment, skill, drive and match performance. Today I play competitive Volleyball and Netball in leagues in Dubai. I maintain a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly.
Art: I paint impressionist and abstract acrylic on canvas.
