Professional Experience
As the Port control officer in Port of Salalah, APM Terminal coordinated all vessel movements by effective & economic use of marine resources. Conducted safety rounds and encouraged all port users and staff to observe correct safety procedures. Monitor the bunkering operations in the port. Supervised the VTS operations and radio communications, maintained all records associated with vessel movements, and provided all supports and assistance to the shipping agents. Verify the document of the vessels calling the port whenever deemed necessary. Issue authorization for various works in ships calling. Process and approve port clearance to vessels departing. Promulgate vessel forecast based on arrival notices and information from agents. Supervisor Automatic Mooring System (CAVOTEC) for berthing vessels. As a Training Design Officer, I have designed courses for the Ratings and Officers of RNO that also included preparation of Job descriptions (Terms of References) for various jobs, Competency Analysis Profile, Operational Objectives and Training Objectives. As Assistant Training Officer, I delivered navigation training ashore and at sea. My tenure as a Planner in Harbour Master Office in Naval Port, I was responsible for monitoring ETA/ETD of ships. Allocate suitable births alongside/at anchorage to ships, assign harbour Tugs and berthing/un-berthing parties, monitor for the correct observance of the Port Rules by the ships alongside and at anchorage, arrange fuel/freshwater replenishment (bunkering), monitor for the correct functioning of all navigational aids within the port limit and arrange its maintenance. I worked as an Assistant Planner for RNO Fleet Operations, Resources Manager and Assistant System Manager of Computer Net working in Head of Fleet Staff department. As instructor in Cadet Training School, I have designed a Navigation and Seamanship course for the Graduating students (Students deputed as Observers onboard Fishing Trawlers) of the Sultan Qaboos University. The assignments with the Royal Navy of Oman, as Operations Supervisor and Instructor to Junior Officers in Radar/Navigation subjects have achieved the objectives of the Employer. The tenure as Operations Room Supervisor in the RNO Radar Station in Strait of Hormuz in the midst of the Gulf war was a unique experience.
