Providing Technical expertise to the Company on Static Equipment for existing facilities, new projects and to provide technical input/advices to the Company Operations, Maintenance & Inspections Divisions.

2. Highlights of Experience & Qualification:

Starting from the early days of my career I got the opportunities to handle static/rotating/piping related projects and the experience-combination has given me more confidence, since refinery related projects are usually a combination of static equipment, rotating equipment, package units & piping. Also my double graduations, in Engineering and in Science has given me extra advantage to my understanding & analyzing power suited to the petrochemicals/ refinery projects.

3. Present Employer : M/s. Kuwait National Petroleum Co., (KNPC), Kuwait
Designation: Mechanical Engineer (Design)

From Dec-1996 to Feb-1999, I was working with KNPC’s Project Department on Secondment basis.

I was handling preparation of technical specifications for the tender, bid evaluation, review and approval of design calculation, drawings etc. for various projects. Some of them were:

• Engg, Procurement and installation of 180 mm thick 400 Tons Heavy Diesel Unifiner Reactor.
• Engg, Procurement and installation of 160 mm thick 325 Tons Kerosene Unifiner Reactor.
• Engg & Construction of floating roof tanks for finished product storage.
• Acid Gas Recovery Project columns & heat exchangers (150 M US $ AGRP project).

Upon completion of these projects during my tenure as a secondment engineer of the project department, in Feb -1999, I was absorbed in the Engineering Department of the Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery (KNPC) as their direct staff.

In the present position, I am handling preparation of technical specifications for tenders, bid evaluation, review and approval of design calculations & detailed engineering drawings etc. for static equipment like heat exchangers, columns, crude heater, storage tanks and pressure vessels. Feasibility & conceptual studies etc. are also part of my present job.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in KNPC’s Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery my main responsibilities are:

Providing Technical expertise to the Company on Static Equipment for existing facilities, new projects and to provide technical input/advices to the Company Operations, Maintenance & Inspections Divisions.
Conducting in-house design and construction engineering of new plant facilities, in accordance with International Codes and Standards and Company Specifications.

Graduation : (1) Bachelor of Science (Physics), from University of Calicut, India in 1982 with First class (70.5% marks).

(2) Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical Engg), from University of Calicut, India in 1986 with First class & Hons (78% marks).

Specialization : Design of Pressure Vessels & Stationary
Equipment (Refinery/ Chemicals/ Petrochemicals projects)

Computer literacy :Experienced in Winword, Excel, Dbase III, Outlook Express, MS Access, Powerpoint, Basic, Lotus 123, Autocad etc.

Software handled : PVElite, Codecalc, Compress, CAESAR–II, IBM-MAXIMO

Codes & Stds. Used : Mainly American Stds. such as ASME, API, ASTM, NFPA, TEMA

Engineering Stds. Used :KNPC-(JGC) Engineering Stds, Currently following SHELL-DEP for new projects. Also used CF Brown, Chiyoda & Dupond Engg. standards in earlier companies.
