I, Henry Hilton Mayer, have been working as an Instrumentation Contracter since 1989. I did my apprenticeship through Eskom in which time I won the floating trophy for the most improved instrument apprentice, just before doing my Trade Test.

I subsequently joined Mondi Paper Merebank where I worked in a permanent position as an Instrument Technician from 1979 to 1989. Sadly, during this time, I got married and went through a divorce in 1987, from which time I was already planning to start contracting my services out. In this time I have been involved in all types of installations, calibrations, field instrumentation from instrument pipe fitting, valve overhauls, PLC installations and fault finding, commisioning DCS systems, SCADA, Fibre Optics, Profibus and many types of automated loops and field instrumentation loops.

I have a sound and varied knowledge of many different process systems and feel this being a definite advantage to my skills in the field of instrumentation.

I have done many shutdowns and turnarounds in the oil refineries and other types of industry as well as being involved in the construction and implementation of all automatic/manual instrument systems on many new/old plants. My last designations in the past three years being "Instrument Specialist" Mechanician at "Petro SA". I then went to the F.P.S.O. “Sanha” off Angola for 28 days, came back and did a shutdown at "Chemical Initiatives". Since then I have completed a contract at "Khumani Mine", where I was involved in the implementation and commisioning af all plant automatic Instrument control. My designation on this project being Instrument Supervisor.

I am willing to accept any Instrumentation post that you might offer me, providing the package is acceptable. I am also willing to relocate to any destination where my services would be required.
