• Ocean freight rate procurement for Import, export and cross trade.
• Filing contract with various liners after rate negotiations, to ensure long term validity of rates
• Providing ocean freight rates to over seas agents. (BDP International has its branches in over 140 locations worldwide.)
• researching and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment (taking account of the perishable or hazardous nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security);
• dealing with special arrangements for transporting delicate cargoes, such as food, medical supplies and other fragile goods;
• Hands on experience in logistics, trade lines, freight forwarding, liner operations, customs clearance, price procurement, shipping, warehousing, coordination, liaison and administration. Acting as consultant in customs matters.
• Monitoring the efficiency, quality and cost of the movement of goods;
• Controlling and coordinating the operation cycle and associated information systems;
• Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines. Heading and conducting weekly operations meetings.
• Analyzing performance report to monitor performance and plan improvements;
• Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs;
• Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers; and ensuring business development by gaining new contracts, analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
• Managing staff training issues, motivating members of the team; project management; and setting objectives.
• Maintaining visibility and control through all phases of the journey, including the production of management reports and statistical and unit cost analysis.
