Language Services Department Supervisor
Current duties include:
• Coordinate, give work direction and schedule the daily activities of Language Services Department for Tengizchevroil. Ensure the Language Services direct staff (10 translators) meets standard of performance.
• Functionally responsible for translators / interpreters working at TCO facilities – around 145 employees. Counsel employees on personnel problems; collaborate with Managers on serious employee problems.
• Develop plans and recommend strategies for recruiting efforts of Kazakh and regional linguist support. Foster relations with linguistic agencies and educational institutions within Kazakhstan. Interview job applicants, evaluate English skills and recommend new hires.
• Put together personnel development plans for linguistic staff. Developed training program for company translators which was launched at the end of 2005 and involves renowned professors of linguistics, authors of Russian-English dictionaries with experience translating for the United Nations Organization;
• Coordinate written translation services for TCO, including in-house Translation Centre and off-site translations. Responsible for procurement of reference materials and development of company wide conformed terminology and glossaries.
• Oversee the processing of invoices from personnel agencies working for TCO, including approval of bill rate, hours worked, authorized signature and support documentation conform to contract terms. Active participation in bidding process, in order to select the best supplier of linguistic manpower for the Company;
• Per the request from TCO HR Management of December 2007, launched the company wide reorganization project to centralize translation services and bring all above mentioned linguistic personnel under one department, currently run by me. The project is based on the Chevron Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP).
