INTERNSHIP:

Summer Intern, June 2005 to July 2005
SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited), Regional office I-9 industrial area Islamabad.

SNGPL is the largest integrated gas company serving more than 2 million consumers in north central Punjab and NWFP. . SNGPL operates in a region of the nation that has a rapidly growing demand for natural gas and power generation due to significant industrial development.

I was referred to the Maintenance and Metering department of SNGPL by the chief engineer, whom I have to report just after my arrival. There I worked under the supervision of Assistant Manager Distribution for almost 4 weeks. I experienced the following in SNGPL during those 4 weeks.

We can say SNGPL the gas suppliers in the country (NWFP+ North Punjab). Two major operations involve in the supply of natural gas, the one is Transmission and other is Distribution. Transmission is done in accordance to the control supply at the city; this is done by transmission lines and some relevant equipment is used to regulate the pressure of the gas, like compressors. Where the gas comes from the source. There is a vast spread network of transmission lines in the country. Distribution is done to supply the gas to all kind of utilities e.g.; domestic, industrial and commercial. It is done similarly by the pipelines and special regulators are installed to maintain the pressure of the gas at extreme conditions.

Natural gas (economical fuel) is first explored and drilled by different multinational companies followed by the production and then processing, the both operations is done by the respective companies which involve in the exploration of the gas. SNGPL purchase the gas from these gas producing companies and takes the responsibility of transmission and distribution of gas in the country.

The department also has an eye on the utilization of the natural gas as it is also a metering department and work on the unaccounted for gas (UFG) and control them.

Technical Skills:
I Can read an understand flow sheets P.I.D (process instrumentation diagrams),
PFD (process flow diagrams). Can tackle the problems by full concentration. A team player with excellent communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English.
