I am a graduate in fire engineering of the Institute of Fire Engineers UK. I have also successfully completed a Diploma in Air Crash Rescue and Fire Fighting from the Defence Research Institute New Delhi India. I was the chief instructor of the Air Force fire-training academy. I was entrusted of conduct training for the fire fighters in the Air Force as well as in the Colombo fire brigade from 1996 to 2001. Responsibilities include setting and monitoring training standards of the fire operations, recruiting for relevant positions, conducting performance appraisals etc. Experience in fire incident controlling during the terrorist attack on Kolonnawa petroleum installation/ central bank blasts and also in several factory fires. I have done safety designing of buildings and storages. I am a competent fire and safety consultant who qualified in setting specifications for fire vehicles/equipments, designing fire facilities of buildings, maintenance and installations of fire equipment, training and evaluation of fire fighters for various organisations.

I am a retired Squadron Leader in the Sri Lanka Air Force and a Graduate of Fire Engineering in the Institute of Fire Engineers, United Kingdom. I am a consultant for Safety, Security, And Fire Fighting in Industrial and Hospitality trades. I joined the Air Force as a cadet officer in the Air Traffic Control Branch in 1987. I was actively participated in Planning, Organising and Controlling of all service operations during my tenure in the Air Force. I have undergone training in both Civil and Military Air Traffic Controlling overseas. I was also involved in Air Crash Rescue and Fire Fighting in the Air Force. I was in charge of the fire-training academy at Katunayake, and trained fire fighters in the Air Force and the Colombo Fire Brigade as well.

I am technically qualified in Motor Mechanics, Power Electric, A/C, and other relevant technical fields from Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute, Moratuwa. I was in charge of the transport fleet in the Air Force Base- Anuradhapura from 1989 to 1993.

Presently I am working as the Group Admin and Facilities Manager in RR Donnelley- Business Process Out-Sourcing, a US company in Colombo with a work force over 1000.
