PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

2004 to Aug 2008 Senior Quantity Surveyor/Cost Engineer (Contract)
Derrick Kershaw Partnership, Chartered Quantity Surveyors, Harrogate

Employed on a contract basis and responsible for managing the technical equipment/controls, mechanical electrical and plumbing package (value £20m+) on a new Cardiac hospital wing in East Yorkshire. The contract was let on an EPC basis and responsibilities included, working closely with the project management team and providing support and advice on contractual issues and general administration of the contract. Preparation, negotiation and agreement of the cost plan, cost checks, preparation of contract and tender documents, assessment of tenders, agreement of interim payments, negotiation and agreement of change orders, financial reporting, auditing, value engineering and value and risk management.

1998 to 2004 Senior QS/Cost Engineer (Contract)

Employed on a contract basis working as a Senior QS/Cost Engineer specialising in Cost Engineering projects, primarily in the Oil and Gas industry. During this period I spent 3 years on secondment to Adma-Opco (Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co) in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates working as a Cost Engineer in their contracts department. Responsibilities included pre and post contract administration, providing contractual advice to the project team, preparation of estimates, contract documents, negotiation and agreement of change orders, interim/stage payments and negotiation and agreement of final accounts. Dealing with and providing advice on claims and contractual issues, value engineering and value and risk management on a variety of offshore oil and gas projects.

I also spent 6 months on secondment to TOTAL in Abu Dhabi working as a cost engineer on the pre contract and post contract administration for the installation of an offshore gas lift turbine.

I also spent 6 months on secondment to a French company providing post contract administration on the construction of a hydroelectric dam in Nigeria.

The remainder of my time during this period was spent working on the pre and post contract administration of various oil/process plant projects in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Russia based in the UK with short trips overseas.
