PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
Assistant Manager Technical Aug 2002 – Sep 2004
Navigation Systems Department March 2006 - Nov2008
Advanced Engineering and Research Organization (AERO)
This project is about designing and developing Inertial Navigational System (INS) for Aircraft. I was dealing with navigation and calibration algorithms, which are used in real time simulation of INS and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
Responsibilities and Achievements:
• 1) Extensive Role in testing and Analysis of Inertial Navigation System
• 2) Good understanding of Navigation Algorithms, Alignment Routine, Calibration
Routine, Navigation Routine and Integrating with GPS system using a Kalman Filtering Algorithms. Transformations between different frames such as body frame to geographic frame (Earth Centered Earth Fixed Frame) and then to Navigation Frame or Wander Azimuth Frames etc.
• 3) Performance Improvement of Loosely Coupled GPS/INS systems using Allan Variance Analysis.
• 4) Characterization of Gyros and Accelerometers. Removing cold start up trend from gyros by modeling and curve fitting etc.
• 5) Calibration of Inertial Navigation Systems(INS)/Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) on three Axis Rate and Positioning Table Acutronic AC3350 and Operator of Three Axis Rate and Positioning Table and Assisted Guidance department in performing Hardware in Loop Simulation on Three Axis Table.
• 6) Good Understanding of GPS systems/principal of operations/features etc. Programming of Javad GPS system using GRILL Language and enabling the appropriate features for integrating it with Loosely Coupled INS systems.
• 7) Feasibility Study of Tightly Coupled GPS/INS systems from Hardware Point of View.
• 8) Documentation of Results, NAV VAN testing of INS systems, testing of Dampers with Assistance from Vibration Department for to be used in INS systems.
• 9) Admin Duties within the department. Interacting with the Vendors/head of department for purchasing the right equipment for to be used in INS systems

Kalman Filter Toolbox for Simulink/Matlab: (Sheffield University, UK)
Kalman Filter has huge range of Application i.e. Autonomous and Assisted Navigation, Radar, GPS systems. This toolbox provided easy to understand interface for the user to develop better understanding about Kalman filtering and prevent them from undergoing the trouble of writing code every time when they want to implement filter on dynamical systems.
Responsibilities and Achievements:
1) Function block sets for linear and extended Kalman filter were made which were optimized for ease of use. Filter is stable and non-diverging as per the quality of Kalman Filter implemented properly.
2) Developed user friendly and easy to understood toolbox.
