Additional Information
My name is Marc Schmid and I am a former New Zealand Army Officer who served for nine (9) years with the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. During this time I held a number of appointments both in New Zealand an abroad including peace keeping operations with the United Nations in East Timor. Having left the defense force in 2007 I now work as a private security contractor in the Oil and Gas industry..
I am currently employed on a six month contract, working, for OXY (Occidental Petroleum) in Sanaˇ¦a, Yemen as a security consultant. This role involves working independently on risk and vulnerability assessments, preparing reports on operations and upcoming projects. I am also involved with developing security operating procedures and writing policy.
In conjunction with Yemeni nationals I then implement these procedures and oversee the initial execution, providing guidance and assistance where applicable. This quality assurance of service providers ensures a sound level of codes of practice.
During the past month I have been involved with the planning and implementation of a Seismic Project which has further enhanced my understanding of the Oil industry.
