HVAC Engineer

As a HVAC Engineers I would see my role as carrying out design, calculations, drawings, surveys leading to installation of new and refurbished HVAC systems on oil installations etc.

At present I have been seconded to Aker Solutions for a period of 4 months to provide HVAC design and drawings for new ventilation systems within existing platform Legs.

I have carried out a number of offshore surveys of existing ventilation systems within the North Sea, Malta and in Angola. The systems and areas have ranged from Accommodation through to Shale Shaker extract system.

Production of CAD drawings from information obtained offshore.

General design calculations for fan and duct sizing, heatloss, heatgain, general ventilation calculations and designing of HVAC ductwork systems.

I am involved in producing Workpacks for offshore work and proposals for a number of clients.

Sigma 3 – HVAC Engineer – April 2007

I have been involved in a number of Change Proposals CP’s from conception right through study stage and finally ending in full installation. The work varied from new Leg ventilation systems, Accommodation refurbishments, Chiller replacements, Replacement of existing Switch room and LER air handling units and general HVAC systems.

Onshore I was responsible for putting together estimates, calculations, fan and duct sizing, heatloss, heatgain, general ventilation calculations and designing of HVAC ductwork systems. Creation of all documents required allowing procurement of new equipment.
Liaising with Designers to produce final construction drawings.
I was also responsible for liaison with vendors, approval of their documents and drawings leading to factory acceptance tests and acceptance of the equipment.

Offshore I have carried out surveys of existing HVAC systems, commissioning and balancing of new and existing ventilation systems, module pressure testing and measuring airflows.
