Professional Experience

Presently I am serving in M/s Haseeb Waqas Group of Companies as Sr. Manager (Purchase), looking-after purchase for Whole group companies including 03 sugar mills, 01 engineering works and other engineering projects, which are in different phases of completion.

In Descon I was making purchases for six major projects worth Pak. Rs. 2,725.00 millions (equivalent US$ 45.42 millions), besides many small projects (Shut Downs) worth Pak Rs. 500 millions (equivalent US$ 8.40). Main areas of activities cover purchases for various on going projects of the company include management of all activities right from generation of enquiries, collection of bids, preparation of comparative statements, finalization of the terms and conditions with the vendors / suppliers, issuance of purchase orders and dispatch management. Major items purchased include steel plates, angle iron, cement, vehicles, laboratory equipment, bunk beds, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. Sub-contracting include all activities related with subletting of various jobs to sub-contractors either for services/supplies. Details of some major achievements and the rewards from the management.

In November 1989 joined State Engineering Corporation and was placed in Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila as Apprentice Engineer. In September 1990 my services were regularized as Assistant Manager.

My main area of activity was related with Overhead Traveling Cranes, Pillar Jib Cranes, Wall Jib Cranes, Dock Side Portal Cranes, Gantry Cranes, Cranes with special features like True Vertical Lifts, Synchronized Cranes, Special Purpose Cranes like Grab Cranes, Cranes for Hazarders Areas such as Spark Proof Cranes, Explosion Proof Cranes. Road Construction Machinery like Road Rollers

I was responsible for the Sales and Marketing / Purchase of components / raw material of orders / projects secured for my business area. During my service I had the opportunity of interacting with different local organizations as well as local / foreign associates for finalization of Sales / Purchase deals against various national / international tenders. Some of the major foreign associates are M/s R. Stahl of Germany, M/s Stothert and Pitt, U. K., M/s ISIK of Turkey.

I have handled projects like Locomotive Factory Resalpur, Naval Dock Yard Karachi & Ormara, Pakistan, Ghazi Barotha Hydel Power Project, etc.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORARIUMS:

In the 1995 MD Heavy Mechanical Complex awarded an appreciation letter in recognition of my services for securing projects from Pakistan Navy.
In the year 1996 MD Heavy Mechanical Complex awarded an honorarium in recognition of my services.

In 2005 management of DESCON has awarded 04 Nos. trophies for organizing training programs for different groups of management trainees.

In 2005 / 2006 management of DESCON has awarded cash reward.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS:
Registered with Pakistan Engineering Council.

1. Finalized fixed rate purchase order with M/s Fauji Cement for supply of 18,000 tons cement for Pakistan Cement Plant project. Contract value Pak. Rs. 75.60 millions equivalent to US$ 1.260 million, contributed a sum of Pak Rs. 8.00 millions (US$ 0.133 millions) towards project profitability.

2. Negotiated and finalized purchase deals for HSD worth 110,000 liters for each project site at an average valuing Pak Rs. 29.70 millions (equivalent US $ 0.495 millions).

3. Negotiated and finalized purchase deal for M S. Plates and Profiles worth Pak Rs. 67.50 millions (equivalent US$ 1.125 millions) from local vendors as well as imported from abroad.

4. Besides made purchases of various items worth Pak Rs. 1245 millions (equivalent US$ 20.75 millions). Most of the purchases of consumables were made through rate running contracts.

5. I was managing a team of 35 officials and purchase staff on different project sites.
