Responsible for the preparation/checking of data sheets, calculations, detailed specifications, instrument databases and material requisitions. Reviews Vendor documentation from instrument and packaged equipment suppliers. Conduct factory acceptance testing of controls and instrumentation on major packaged equipment.
Full responsibility for significant work packages of complex equipment & able to supervise and assist other engineers and designers.
Detailed knowledge of general field instruments including the following;
• Knowledge of the application, specification and limitations of all common instruments – pressure, temperature, flow, level, as well as valves and factors affecting their selection and performance.
• Appreciation of the fundamental principles of common transducers and limitations on application and accuracy.
• Ability to do calculations for flow elements, control valves and relief valves. Knowledge of common materials used and typical limitations.
• Knowledge of the common transmission signal standards used, analogue and digital. Experience of hazardous areas.
• Familiarity with P&IDs, instrument data sheets and instrument schedule.
• Experience with PLC / DCS based control systems and other complex systems such as analyzers, fiscal metering and tank gauging.
computer literate with a range of Office Automation (OA) applications .
25+ years experience as an instrument engineer, in a oil and Gas industry, offshore & Onshore environment with Site construction and commissioning experience.
Key Technical Skills:
Commercially aware with good written and oral communication skills and be able to work independently. Must be able to plan work effectively and report progress on a periodic basis. Good people skills are essential.
