Project Manager-Construction- Petroleum Industry

My goal in my career is to be the best I can be in my field and posting while allowing for technical and social growth.

A total of seventeen years postgraduate experience together with a continuous one and a half years gained on attachment during undergraduate studies. Currently running own civil and structural consulting engineering firm. The firm specialises in Civil/Structural engineering design, infrastructure utilities design, and architectural services to the Petroleum retail industry. Varied multi-disciplinary experience has also been gained in various roles as a sales engineer, corporate projects Manager, operations engineer, as a property developer, consulting roads engineer and as construction site engineer. Extensive senior and executive management experience gained in the process covering projects as diverse as roads and bridges, service stations, bulk fuel depot projects, housing, industrial real estate development, self contained urban developments, etc. Computer literate covering various technical design/drafting and project management software, spreadsheets and other Windows based software.

B. Tech (Hons.) Degree in Civil Engineering, University of Zimbabwe, 1991

I work well under pressure. My training as an Engineer teaches me to breakdown the work into tasks, allocate the resources, put time to each task and implement in a sequential manor that recognizes the bottlenecks. Thus pressure and deadlines can be managed by being methodical and innovative. If it means I have to work overtime, overnight, or to reorganize my entire resources (subordinates, equipment, communication, etc) to achieve deadlines. The pressure element becomes invisible if one is result driven.
In my regional work under Mobil I was responsible for three additional affiliate offices and at the same time expected to fulfill my role in Zimbabwe. In the region I was entirely responsible for the design, planning, project management and operations support, a feat that I successfully achieved over a long period.
