Civil Engineer with 5 years experience in both design and construction management

Wish to be a civil enigneer who work on site, carrying out engineering design and construction management for either consultancy or contractor.

As a brief introduction, I am a civil engineer with 5 years of experience in both design and construction management. I obtained my Masters of Engineering from Imperial College London in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Even though I am currently a Graduate Member of the Institute of Civil Engineer in the UK, I plan to take the chartership exam very soon and subsequently obtain the CEng status.

In terms of design, I have previously designed concrete structures, drainage networks, and roads using the British Standard, Australian Standard, and Indian Standard. I have been involved in all stages of the design process such as tendering, feasibility study, optioneering analysis, outline design and detail design.

On construction management side, I have experience working as both the engineering consultant representative being an Assistant Resident Engineer, and as a contractor being a Project Engineer. My understanding in engineering principles and the construction procedures and process gives me an in depth understanding when carrying out the following tasks:
• being the company representative both on site and in meetings to interact with different parties,
• negotiating and resolving technical issues on site,
• carrying out inspections to verify works,
• managing subcontractors,
• both reviewing and issuing construction documents such as method statements, risk assessments, requests for information, consultant verbal instructions, engineer site instructions and site variation notices,
• both approving and producing construction estimates, cost studies, schedules and budgets,
• supervising work activities in scope, time, manpower and equipment requirements and making sure deadlines are met,
• reviewing drawings and specifications to ensure constructability,
• participating in the material approval process to ensure the correct materials are delivered to site on time.
• supervising as built drawings to be done.

Also, I have an excellent command in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. After working in 5 different countries, I am sure I can adapt to new environments quickly and be a valuable asset to the team.
