Industrial Projects: Engro Energy Limited, Pakistan (from 11/08 to Present)

• One of the biggest companies in Pakistan, which was part of Exxon Mobil in the past
• Involved in Fertilizers, Chemicals, Energy and Dairy products
• Currently working on a project for them which focuses on the Mining and Utilization (primarily Power production) of the huge Coal reserves in the Thar desert of Pakistan.

Internship: S.I. Chemicals, Karachi, Pakistan (from 06/06 to 08/06 and from 06/07 to 08/07)
Responsible for marketing of new products, attending business inquiries and coordinating with foreign principals on different matters.

• Company is involved in marketing & sales of Chemicals from world renowned companies i.e. Bostik, Arkema, SI Group Int’l, SEPPIC +++ used for wide range of applications.
• Assisted in corresponding with foreign principals & local customers.
• The wide range of application of the chemicals marketed by this company helped in learning and understanding different processes used in different factories. Also learned about the importance of different chemicals and compounds for different applications.
• Visited many companies, which are the end-users of the chemicals supplied by S.I. Chemicals, for a better understanding of the processes.

Pakistan Refinery Ltd., Karachi, Pakistan (from 08/07 to 09/07)

• One of the biggest Oil Refineries in Pakistan with a capacity to process 2.1 Million tons of Crude Oil per annum.
• Producer & supplier of Petroleum products to Domestic Markets, Defense Force and Railways.
• Received practical training by working on the different aspects of the Refinery, which included Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Generators, Compressors, Pumps, Furnaces, Distillation Towers, Waste Water Treatment, and other equipments and processes.
• Received in-depth training on plant and worker Safety issues and Environmental protection issues.
• Received briefings on equipment and process control systems.

Masters (MEng) in Chemical Engineering with Chemistry
Date of Graduation: July 2008 Overall result 2:1 (60 – 70 %)

Design Project (3rd year) Topic: Design of a process for the removal of Volatile Organic ýCompounds from the air outlet stream using Cryogenic Condensation, Zeolites and Carbon beds. The work included the optimization of the process and the costing.

Thesis (Final year) Topic: Synthesis of Zeolite Y & ZSM-5 and its Characterization using X-Ray Diffraction and Electron Microscopy. The ýstructure of the zeolites and its effects on the different properties of zeolite like Adsorption, ýCatalysis, Ion-exchange process, etc is also included in the project. I also did research on Reactive Distillation and the role of zeolites as catalysts, depending on their structure, in this process.
