Since graduating in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Teesside University in 1991 have been an active team member of several major refinery projects, working both in the UK and overseas. I have recently worked offshore in Tunisia in a supervisory role responsible for all aspects of Control & Instrument Engineering from preparation of construction work packs through to Mechanical Completion, Pre-commissioning and Well start-up.

Senior Control Systems Engineer
Installation and commissioning of new Well head Control Panel for two new topsides wells.
Installation and commissioning of new Master Control Station, HPU and Methanol injection package for two new subsea tie-backs.
Installation and commissioning of two new Glycol Reboilers and Burner Management Control and Safety System.
Modification and commissioning of existing Integrated Control and Safety System (Delta V / GE Fanuc) and Fire and Gas system. Carried out FAT/SAT and Cause and Effect checks. Responsible for Mechanical Completion / Commission Systems documentation, permits, supervision and co-ordination of vendors and construction contractors.

1998 - 2007 Huntsman Tioxide, Greatham Works
Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer
Cutover of existing plant on to new Emerson Delta V Process Control System, including System architecture design, hardware purchase, integration (via new fibre optic network), FAT / SAT and commissioning. Active team member of process and sequence software Hazops.

Preparation of User Requirement Specification for new site PCS (Emerson Delta V). Specification of Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation on new Fume Scrubbing plant. Supervision of installation contractor at the Clients site. Commission new PCS and Fieldbus instrumentation. Extensive modification to PCS sequences to improve plant start-up/shutdown and subsequent commissioning and handover to production team.
