Professional Experience
1. I have nearly 30 years experience working in the land surveying and civil engineering fields. Throughout my career I have held various positions with land surveyors, engineers, contractors, the government and more recently have managed and ran my own land surveying business. I have worked on many different types of surveying and engineering projects. I received training as a construction surveyor in the US Army after graduating from High School in 1978. One of the most recent projects for my company is a wind turbine site in Washington that includes location and topography of 40 miles of roads and 57 wind turbine sites. I’ve been employed as a party chief during the reconstruction of a Bureau of Reclamation damn project in South Dakota. I was responsible for the hiring and training of all survey personnel. I was responsible for blue print reading, calculations, field staking and monthly volume estimates throughout the project that included 300,000 yards of blasted and placed rock material and reconstruction of 7,000 feet of Highway 385. I was a party chief during a boundary and topographic survey of a 3,000 acre military site in Connecticut that used GPS and aerial photo control I have experience working for the Jefferson County Surveyor, Gary DeJarnatt. The major activity was the tracing and resurveying of Public Land Corners in central Oregon. I have worked on many boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking for public improvements to include sanitary sewer and storm drain systems, streets, water systems, commercial and industrial buildings, and residential houses. I have worked on many boundary surveys, topographic surveys, lot line adjustment surveys, partition plats, and subdivision plats. I have been responsible for the research required for these projects to include reviewing surveys, as built maps, Government Plat maps, field notes, deeds, field data, and personal testimony. I have a great deal of experience in writing descriptions for properties and easements. I have received a lot of knowledge and training from on the job experience as well as having to complete 30 professional development hours of continuing education to maintain my survey license in Oregon which was obtained in February of 2000.

I have been managing my own land surveying business for the last 4 years. I have been responsible for securing surveying projects, developing the scope of work, the scheduling of the surveying activities being provided for, and the technical specifications implemented in the provided surveying work. I also have experience working for a company in California where I was in charge of scheduling the daily work schedule of up to 4 survey crews. I was also responsible for preparing estimates and the scope of work for projects that included surveys and construction staking. The projects that I have experience in are boundary surveys, small partitions, small and large subdivisions, and industrial and commercial developments. My experience ranges from that of Party Chief to Business manager. I have managed projects in the low hundreds to multi million dollars.
