Job Description

Driller
Drillers are members of a drilling crew or service rig crews who direct crew operations. Drillers are responsible for the drilling equipment.Reporting directly to the rig managers. They are also responsible for the crew when the drilling rig manager is not present, ensuring that the crews do their jobs safely and efficiently.
Drillers operate pumps, rotary table, the draw-works, and drill pipe. They monitor the progress of the drilling operation and determine when bits need to be changed. They train crew members and introduce new procedures which may help the crew to work more safely and effectively. They also keep a current record of the progress of drilling.

Derrickman & Motorman Duties

Align and manipulate sections of pipe or drill stem from a platform on the rig derrick during the removal and replacement of strings of pipe; or drill stem and drill bit. Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs. Operate and maintain drilling rig motors, transmissions, pumps and drilling mud systems, and mix mud chemicals, cements and additives.Read gauges to monitor pressure, density, rate and concentration and adjust pumping procedure as required. Record mud flows and volumes and take samples.Supervise floorhands and laborers. Motor man does not need to go on the derrick.

Roughneck

Assisting in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs and service equipment.Cleaning up the drill rig area. Handle, sort and move drill tools, pipe, cement and other materials.Maintain drilling equipment on the drill floor
