1998-1999 I was invited and participated to EUFIT ’98, the sixth “European Congress on Intelligent Techniques & Soft Computing” which held place in Aachen, Germany with a contribution regarding the use of the Artificial Neural Networks in optimization schedule for a 4-High Reversing Heavy Plate Rolling Mill.

1997 Ph. D. candidate at the “DUNAREA DE JOS” University, Galati, with an approach on:
“Modeling and Software development a Computer-based real-time Integrated System using Artificial Neural Networks for optimization a Reversing Plate Rolling Mill Schedule”. Not finalized.

As chief automation engineer, I was the initiator for developing an IT system in the Heavy Plate Reverse Rolling Mill No.2
The beginning was made in 1995-1996 with the hot rolling process modeling software for setup and control of the mill stand parameters.
After that, I had the idea (1996-1998) to develop an INTRANET with a database of the mill for using Artificial Intelligence (Artificial Neural Networks), a so-called Enterprise Knowledge Base System.
The EKBS was made for building predictable setup parameters for the two mill stands or, in other terms, the IT system became intelligent, it "learns" from the “previous experience"(database) which will be the optimum setup parameters for obtaining the minimum errors on target parameters.
