Career Objective
My job objective is to work in the oil and gas industry, hopefully off shore as a Mechanical Fitter.
Professional Experience
I have always been good at working with my hands, this was the reason I chose to
apply for Teesside Training Enterprise and carry out an Advanced Modern
Apprenticeship to pursue a career as a Mechanical Fitter. In the time I was at TTE and
on placement at Cleveland Potash Ltd, I had to work as part of a, sometimes, large
team which I thoroughly enjoyed. While working at CPL as an apprentice, I have worked on a range of equipment above and underground, including conveyor belts and their drive systems, the installation of pumps and gearboxes, filter screen units and the overhaul of components in the workshop such as Hydraulic pumps and gearboxes. At the end of my four year apprenticeship I was awarded Apprentice of the Year by my sponsoring company Cleveland Potash Ltd which I am very proud about receiving!
Once I had completed my ‘time’ as an apprentice I was employed as part of the underground Maintenance Team who’s main role is to carry out planned maintenance on the mining machinery, the duties I had to undertake were carrying out Hydraulic diagnostic testing, gearbox inspection and replacement and general fault finding and inspection of the mining machinery.
After a year of been on the maintenance team I was given a job as a ‘Face Fitter’, in this job role I am on standby to fix broken down machines while mining is undertaken.
The breakdowns can range from a burst hydraulic hose to a failed gearbox. Fault finding plays a major role in the majority of breakdowns.
Training is also undertaken regularly at CPL; during my employment I have attended courses on Fire Fighting, Slinging and Lifting, Working with a Harness, Flame Cutting and Burning, Hydraulics and Pneumatics and General Health and Safety in the Workplace.
I am single with no dependants.
