Professional Experience
servicing and installing equipment and mobile laboratories (mud-logging cabins) to assist well site geologists to determine a wide variety of drilling and safety-related parameters on exploration and production oil and gas wells.
Serviced and installed state-of-the art FID (flame ionisation detection) total hydrocarbon and chromatograph gas detection and analysis equipment.
Ran a workshop, supervising technical and logistics staff.
conducted technical training in Dubai, Qatar, Egypt, Australia, the UK and Russia. I have taught technicians and Field Engineers from the SLS and MWD (measurement while drilling) product-lines in all surface hardware, cabin shut-down systems and Oilfield Familiarisation. I have taught networking basics, including IP configurations and subnet masking in local area networks with a variety of 10-base-T, fibre-optics and 10-base-2 (co-ax) media. I am very fluent in the use of computers; an SLS cabin having anything from 3 to 8 networked PC's required for the complete system to function.
I was also the only Baker Hughes employee accredited by EP-IT (Aberdeen) to teach Ex Protection compliance to both ATEX (European “Atmospheres Explosibles”) regulations and the IECEx (International Electro-Technical Committee) Scheme to our surface technicians. This dealt with the rules and regulations governing the installation and operation of electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. This course became a mandatory requirement of any surface technician working with electrical equipment destined for a potentially hazardous location on- or offshore.
