INTERNSHIP:
June 04~ July 18 SIEMENS PAKISTAN

Worked in the Infrastructure Solutions Department which deputed me to Korangi Thermal Power Station (K.T.P.S), a 220KV Grid Station.I was engaged with the Siemens team who had been deputed there to establish a substation at that Power Generation Plant. I was given the task to study the schematics of the substation and to direct the technicians to work accordingly. I had a brief study of the Gas Turbine LM 6000 PC and the Steam Turbine installed at that Power Plant by METKA. Working with German engineers was a great experience. I had a hands-on experience in installation of the GIS and its control panels and with the civil works such as switchyard construction and substation earthing, transformer installation etc.

At the turbine section, I got familiar with the troubleshooting measures and its analysis. I was shown and described the schematics of the Gas Turbine and the Steam Turbine. Moreover, the Reverse Osmosis plant at the K.T.P.S further broadened my learning experience. During my internship at Siemens I visited DCL (Defence Cogen Ltd.) and the K.C.R grid station. The De-Salination plant at D.H.A Cogen was installed by Siemens Pakistan and I being a trainee engineer learnt a lot at that plant.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

Research paper entitled ‘AN HYBRID APPROACH FOR MOTION ARTIFACT ELIMINATION IN PULSE OXIMTER USING MATLAB’ in the Northeast American Society of Engineering Education Conference, Bridgeport, CT, USA, 2009.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT:
“Recognition of Human Iris Patterns for Biometric Identification to Enhance E-Security using MATLAB”

ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
• Designed a temperature sensor using Logic Design and Switching Theory.
• Designed a Graphical Calculator using C- Language.
• Designed a Hi Fi stereo system using Filter circuitry of Operational Amplifiers.
• Designed a Darlington pair amplifier.
• Designed a Hydrogen Fuel cell.
