May-Aug. 2007 National Institute of Health, (NIDDK) Bethesda, MD
Summer Intern
Modeling Biological Systems:
•Constructed a mathematical model using literature data that includes the sequential activity, interactions, and cascades of crosstalk between pathogens and immune system
•Observed the behaviors of proteins supported by literature
•Used the model to test the effect of time on the concentration of the proteins studied
Sept. 2006-present Undergraduate Research Student, UMBC Chemical Engineering Department
A model of Rho GTPases network.
•Study the pathway sensitivity of virulence factors of bacteria (known for ensuring the survival of the pathogens) to Rho GTPases (the molecular switches that regulate the extra cellular signals) of the host
•Create models to uncover proteins features in relation to their altered enzymes by virulence factors
•Keep accurate documentation
•Demonstrate the ability to use engineering skills to solve problems in biological system
COMMUNITY SERVICE
July 2006-present Maryland Department of Hygiene, Spring Grove Hospital Center Baltimore, MD
•Study the impact of therapeutic intervention in psychiatric patients
•Assess the responses of the patients to the therapeutic measures through daily records
•Understand the factors that trigger mental illness among the patients
•Help the patients to regain positive functionality in the society
