CRO Production operator/technician

I started working in the offshore industry at Schlumberger IPM department, the process plant needed to be fully understood and learned along with theoretical training programs set out by Schlumberger, this was done relatively easily. At the time I started working on the FPSO it was in the harbour for maintenance, experience was gained on how the production equipment operate and function on the inside and knowledge was gained on how to fully service the equipment. Commissioning experience was gained when all the equipment needed to be commissioned and checked for operation faults. On the FPSO my responsibilities involved doing chemical sampling, chemical injection rates and mainly OCR duties as I am the OCR operator on my shift, which involves quick decision making and full responsibility for production when the production supervisor is not present, in this position I gained personnel management skills, keeping the personnel motivated and working efficiently. The specific production facility makes use of water injection where I obtained experience with electrochlorinators, working with oxygen scavengers, scale inhibitors, biocides, dual media filters, course strainers using mud pumps to inject water. On the oil production side 2 production wells flow to the riser flowing to 3 phase separators where the oil is directly exported to a tanker and the gas flared. The produced water treatment facility included working with hydrocyclones and keeping overboard water oil content below 20 ppm.
Further technical training is within Schlumberger is ongoing to even further broaden my skills and knowledge of the oil industry.
I believe the skills obtained from working in the integrated project management department can be used to your company’s full advantage as I have learned how to interpret and communicate with company representatives and rig staff to find mutual benefit without compromise. I have some instrumentation experience as well and consider myself able to install and setup instrumentation. I was involved in setting up the new SCADA systems used onboard and consider myself as a expert in the software setup and computer hardware area.
I have obtained a large interest in reservoir engineering and drilling operations and while in production and enjoying it, these departments I also would like to explore in the future should the opportunity arise.

I started in Schlumberger in the IPM department as a production specialist trainee on the ORCA FPSO on the shores of Mossel Bay South Africa, the training was completed ahead of schedule and I was promoted to production specialist. Currently further production training is on going as well as well testing training to broaden my scope and to absorb more knowledge of the oil industry as this turned into a passion for me. I was also chosen to be part of a well testing team to do a well test job in Uganda in my spare time while not working offshore in early 2009, which turned out to be a great success.
