Senior Process Operator

Effective and Safe Operations of Chemical Plant and Tank Farm.

For 27 years I worked as a Senior Process Controller at Sasol, Mossgas and PetroSA. I did all courses as required. All the years I worked at Tank Farms and Despatch and handled final products. It was my duty to blend, sample, store and distribute all final products. I have a vast knowledge of liquid gasses, including Ammonia, Propane, Butane, Propylene as well as mixtures there-of like LPG.
Different Alcohols were also handled, including Methanol, Ethanol, Acetone, Butanol and M.E.K. I also handled Phenols, Sulphuric Acid, Caustic Soda (at various dilutions) as well as Pitch, Road tar and Creosote. A huge part of my experience was gained in ship loading from submitting loading plans, line clearances (face to face and pigging) reconciliations of quantities and compiling B.O.L’s.
Obviously safety of people, equipment and the environment was always the highest priority. I was authorized as a gas tester, also issuing and acceptance of Hot Work and Normal Work permits and never experienced any accidents or incidents during planned or unplanned maintenance. I was also part of the team in my area of responsibility concerning the investigation of incidents and accidents. Since 1987 I was also utilized as Training Presenter for new employees. For the last 14 years I was a team leader in the Emergency Team in my areas of responsibility. During most of my services at Sasol and Mossgas/PetroSA I was the Health and Safety Rep, doing safety inspections and updating the MBO system.
